Today I will talk about a very personal topic. It’s about my weight loss journey and how I managed to lose 20 kgs (44 pounds) in about 6 months. Are you ready for my weight loss story?

Before and After Weight Loss Pictures

Nowadays, many people asked me: “how did you lose weight this much? what’s your secret?” I will reveal the secret behind my weight loss later, but it was also determination and perseverance.

For many years before this, I was really struggling to lose weight.

How My Journey Started

I woke up on November 23rd, 2020, morning, and I said to myself. I want to become someone else. I was fat, about 70 kg, with no motivation, and wanted to be healthy.

So after all these years of suffering and junk food, I decided that it’s high time to start losing weight and I need to start now.

I began to research something that would permit me to lose weight and not regain after. In the past years, I have tried many types of diet, cleansing, detox, intermittent, doing differents physical exercises, etc., but I was always regaining the weight I lost after a while.

I was unsuccessful in my research, and after some thought, I decided to call a friend who I knew lost 35 kgs in eight months.

I wanted to know how he managed to lose all those body fats and pounds. We talked for a long time, and he revealed to me his strategy.

The strategy was very simple. Consume only 850 or fewer calories per day with less fat and less sugar.

The Secret Strategy

So, I decided to follow the same strategy. I started planning what to eat every day and downloaded a calorie counter to help me understand how to count and weigh the foods I would eat.

In the beginning, it was difficult for me to give up on my bad eating habits every day. This is where determination and perseverance come into play.

I said to myself. I have to do it. Sweets will do me more harm than good. I made a shopping list, went to the supermarket and bought lots of chicken, meat, eggs, fruit, vegetables, etc.

Everything I will need for my planned meals.

My Motivation

Every day when I woke up in the morning, I had one goal: to lose weight. This motivated me to continue. I ate good little dishes that I prepare, and I even bought myself an elliptical bike because I didn’t want to go to the gym again.

Having exercise equipments at home helps a lot. Fitness needs time and you can do it when you want, and for how long you want. I started with 45 minutes on the elliptical bike every day.

Back to Reality

The first two weeks of the diet did not give notable results, but it was decreasing little by little on the weight scale. But at the end of January, I began to feel sick and decided to consult a doctor. This was when everything changed for me.

They discovered that I had a lump in my breast, and I need to go through surgery to remove it. I had undergone surgery at the end of January 2021. Fortunately, everything went well as I had the best doctor I could have.

After the surgery, I had to rest a lot, and it was difficult to continue on my weight loss journey—especially physical exercises. I felt very disappointed; after all my efforts, I was back again at the starting point.

Discouragement and Stress

I felt discourage and stress started to build up. I started to reject and vomit everything I was eating. My health began to deteriorate, and I started developing chronic gastric and constipation.

It was like hell for me. Then, Lent started. As I am Christian, every year for 40 days, I only eat vegetables as fast.

It’s my way of penitential preparation for Easter. Something incredible happened during the first week. I started to feel much better.

My Weight Loss Journey

Could eating only vegetables be beneficial for some health problems?

Day by day, I was feeling better. My gastric problem was improving, and I was no more having issues with constipation.

So why not eating only vegetables. I have many vegetarian friends, and they helped me a lot. They send me tips and meal recipes regularly and I was in love with this way of eating.

Throughout all these, I start regaining self-confidence and is loving the person I am becoming. I began to lose belly fat, felt lighter, and lost a lot of weight within a few months. I was seeing m body changed! What a great feeling.

My parents still have a hard time accepting that I no longer eat meat, but my husband fully supports me in my decision.

Now I am proud of who I am. I wanted to feel good in my skin all my life, like have clothes that I wanted to fit on me.

My New Vegan Journey

So now I am a vegetarian.

Becoming a vegetarian is not dramatic; you just have to eat vegetables and cook them with love. In addition, being vegetarian is to do good to nature.

It’s a shame that I didn’t think about this before. But it’s never too late in life if you want to change for the better.
